A Little Bit of Hope for Today

Submitted by Lara Cook
For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth.  Psalm 71:5

God does not fail at keeping His promises.  He always keeps His word.  We can only grasp how great and precious God’s promises are when we realize how much we need them.  Maybe you are smack dab in the middle of needing some extra hope today, or maybe today is a great day and things are good.  Either way, enjoy some of the promises of God listed below and tuck them away in your heart.  Carry them with you and remember in good times and bad how magnificent are the promises of God.
He Gives Hope to the Hopeless - Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
He Helps Restless Souls be StillJohn 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
He Binds the Broken HeartedPsalm 147:3: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He Sets Captives Free from DarknessLuke 4:18: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…
He Gives Strength to the Weak Isaiah 40:29: He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.
He Gives RestMatthew 11:28: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
He Gives VictoryRomans 8:37: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
He Gives SalvationRomans 10:9: …because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
He Gives Eternal Life- Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He Gives Beauty for Ashes – Isaiah 61:3-To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own gloryNIV
He Gives Gladness for Mourning - Isaiah 61:3 - O grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified. ESV
These promises are just the beginning of the promises He made.  He is a merciful and grace filled God who protects, provides, gives freedom, and peace. Bask in His love and the certainty of His word today.

Scripture to Claim:
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
