We Proclaim Him

Colossians 1:13-29

Evangelism, the sharing of the "good news" that Jesus Christ has made provision for the sins of men, is the responsibility of every believer.  Utilizing each spiritual gift, God mobilizes the church into a mighty army performing the work of redemption.

I.    The Persons of Evangelism - v.13-27

A. God- creating the plan   v.13, 19-20

B. Christ - performing the plan   v.13-23

C. Christians - sharing the message. v.24-27

Our part is to reveal the mystery and tell the story of Jesus and His glory.

The Mysterion

1. This Secret in you is an Ancient One.

2. This Secret in you is now a Revealed One.

3. This Secret in you is a Transforming One.

II. The Program of Evangelism - v.28a-c

A. Preaching - "we proclaim Him"

B. Warning - "admonishing every man"

C. Instructing - "teaching ...with all wisdom"

III. The Purpose of Evangelism - v.20-22, 28d;
2 Corinthians 5:14-21

A. Reconciliation with God - v.20-22

Without the "word of reconciliation," one could neither know of reconciliation nor attain it.

The apostles were the "ambassadors for Christ," 2 Corinthians 5:20

B. Discipleship in Christ - v.28d

IV. The Power for Evangelism - v.29

A. Man’s intense labor v.29a

Powerful evangelism is merely sharing the Good News about Jesus and His gift with enthusiasm and wisdom.
