I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
Choosing to Move
When we come to know Jesus as our Savior we begin a new life in him. We are changed instantly by Jesus, not by anything we have done to make it happen. We start a new journey immediately away from sin and towards Jesus. We begin to grow in him as we read our bible, go to church, become a part of a community of believers who support us, and help us grow.
Spiritual Growth is essential to our walk as a believer. Growing is not just understanding. It is the result of a deep and intimate relationship with Jesus. Knowledge alone will get us nowhere if we do not move and grow in that knowledge. It is knowledge applied that makes a difference. When we apply the spiritual truths that we learn to our lives we experience a true difference that propels us forward step by step to continue growing. Growth is a sign of life and spiritual growth is a sign of spiritual life.
A good foundation is mandatory for construction of a powerful Christian life. Our faith in Christ and our redemption in him is the foundation for journey. Our continued faith in him encourages us to trust that he will finish the work he started in. us. It reminds us of his steadfast commitment to our spiritual growth and journey in faith.
Learning to move is just the beginning. Jesus leads us every step of the way, but faith is required on our part to take every step. We have to decide to move. We have to decide we want to grow towards Jesus in a deeper relationship with him, learning to live and love like him. We have to choose to move. It may be easier not to move but only movement leads to the abundant life we have in him.
How do we move? We move by surrendering and choosing to move in him and by him alone. As we start down this path in him prayer and Bible study will help us grow and stay rooted in him. Faith comes in when we start to doubt and fear. It propels us forward in movement when we are paralyzed and increases our faith.
Have you chosen to move toward him?
Or have you stopped moving or never started moving?
Are you frozen in place, paralyzed by the next step or fear?
Many Christians accept Jesus as their Savior only to sit in the pew every Sunday, serve in all the places, and give their money but they never choose to move. A growing, transforming relationship with Jesus does not automatically happen in our lives. It involves intentionality on our part. As our key truth for this series says Movement is the catalyst for growth. Therefore, there can be no spiritual growth without spiritual movement. We must choose to move if we want to grow and be transformed through a relationship with him.
