Who is God and What are His Characteristics?

Monday, May 15, 2023  Submitted by Kay Crumley

As Christians, we are called to worship, to focus our attention on God daily.  As we consider how to do that let’sthink about some steps we can take to get our attention focused on Him.

Our Worship – Who is God and What are His characteristics? The song HOLY FOREVER helps us to understand who He is and what His characteristics are.

He is Holy – He is good and powerful. Who is like you, O  Lord, among the gods?    Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? Exodus 15:11
We need to consider all He has done and worship Him for Who He is.

He is Eternal – He is the alpha and the omega, He has no end. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
He is the one constant Who will never change, the only One on whom we can fully rely.

Our Response - How do we change our attitude and actions because of Who He is? – because He is Holy then IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL..

He paid for our sins, all of themMy little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2
He is the advocate for those who are His childrenHe saved us and is now defending us by having our debt of sin covered by His sacrifice. Thus, we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice which is our act of worship to Him (Rom 12:1-2) as we take up our cross daily to follow Him (Luke 9:23).

All is well/good, He gives us peaceDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

We have no need to worry or be anxiousHis peace is not like the peace we know here on earth, His peace only makes sense to His children because it doesn’t seem reasonable in the world’s view.

Our message – When we are at peace, regardless of our circumstances, we should desire to SPEAK JESUS into their lives of others we meet

His name is Power, just calling His name brings His power into the situation.  Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.  Jeremiah 32:17
He is able, He is over all things, no power we can imagine is greater than His.

His name is Life, not only does His name bring power into our circumstances but it also gives us life through HimJesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 He gives life and is the ONLY way to eternal life.

Our Testimony is what He has done for and in usMY JESUS is the reason we have a testimony that will bring HIM glory.

His love is strongFear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 As we encounter life’s difficulties, we are confident in His strength and power because He has us, not just our back, but He is holding us in His right hand.

His Grace is free, it is not something we have to earnAnd are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  Romans 3:24 His grace is a gift and by it we are justified, made righteous, right with God, because He has redeemed us, paid the price for our sins by His death on the cross.

This is the testimony of a believer.  It is our duty to share this with others so that Jesus can change their lives as He has changed ours.  So that others can LET JESUS CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
