Law 3 We Reap in a Different Season than When We Sow

Seven Laws of the Harvest - Law 3

Galatians 6:7-10 – Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
“Too many believers are sowing wild oats throughout the week and then going to church on Sunday and praying for a crop failure.” (John W. Lawrence, Seven Laws of the Harvest)  Sooner or later what we sow, we reap, but the thing that is so deceptive is that we reap in a different season.
Timing is everything!
The Foundation for this Law - Genesis 8:22

A season in our life is a time frame that has been allotted for something to happen.

The harvest never comes immediately after planting; for while the earth abides, there is seedtime and harvest, winter and summer, etc.

The "in due season" Principle - at the appropriate, appointed time - men will reap that which they have sown, whether good or bad.

SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE SEASONS OF LIFE

I. Life is Full of Change, But Not of Chance  Ecc. 3: 1

Antinomy: A contradiction between principles or conclusions that seem equally necessary and reasonable; a paradox.

The word translated “season” in verse 1 is properly translated “appointed time”

II. Life Can Be Glimpsed But Not Grasped  Ecc: 3:10-11

God created every man with a sense that there is more to this life than just the kind of chaotic life that is described in the first 8 verses of Ecclesiastes.

The problem is that we can never step back far enough to view everything the way God does.

III. Life Can Be Managed But Not Manipulated    Ecc. 3:9

Even though we cannot control life or figure it out, we are still responsible for how we respond to life.
We can’t manipulate life and the seasons of life for our own benefit or profit.
HOW TO RESPOND TO THE SEASONS OF LIFE

I. Choose Faith Over Frustration  Ecc. 3:11,14

II. Choose Gratitude Over Grumbling  Ecc. 3:12a-13

III. Choose Good Over Gain Ecc. 3:12b

A. In Faith and Patience, Sow What Is Good - James 5:7-8

B. Pray to the Lord of Harvest and Don't Faint - Luke 10:2

C. Wait Patiently on the Lord Who Will Reward Your Labor - Psalm 27:13-14

IV. Choose To Fear God Rather Than Fear Life  Ecc. 3:14
