Now the eleven
disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed
them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And
Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth
has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the
age.” Matthew 28:16-20
Let’s focus today
on verse 18. Jesus started the Great
Commission with the reminder that He’s the one that has all authority in heaven
and earth. It is through this authority
that we can do any ministry.
It was late in the
day and the fog started coming in and school was out. Aditya traveled to this little village to
share the good news of Jesus. He shared
in a small local school, where families gathered and the principal spoke up
angrily, saying, “I just have no need for God because I have science and that’s
enough.” Even so, Aditya continued to preach the good news and afterward people
came up to him and asked him to pray for them.
As you could imagine, in a small village everybody knows everybody else
and they know all about everyone’s problems. One young boy was deaf and mute
and the mother asked Aditya to pray for him. Aditya laid hands on him and asked
God to heal the young boy in Jesus’ name and immediately the boy was
healed.
The crowd was
excited and wanted to follow this God who can heal. The principal knew this young boy and his
family and exclaimed, “There is no explanation for this in medical science. I
now believe you, that there is one God and I want to trust in this Jesus that
you’re teaching about.”
There was a big
spiritual harvest that day. When Jesus
sends us, He gives us His authority. Let’s go out boldly!
Lord, today I
ask that you would work among the educated class in India. We pray that they
would see their need for Christ. I pray also for those here at home, that Your
work would be evident and that people would come to follow You.
