Learning Contentment

Learning Contentment

Philippians 4:11-13

Contentment is not found in your circumstances or your possessions. Truthfully, contentment is a learned behavior that is developed over time as we are strengthened by Christ.

I.   Finding Contentment Begins When You Realize That What You Have in God is Greater Than What You Don’t Have in Life

·      If we do not learn to be content in life, we will soon develop contempt for life.

II.  Finding Contentment Only Becomes Possible When You Realize That It Is A Learned Behavior, Not A Product Of My Circumstances

·      Learning contentment does not mean that you are indifferent to your circumstances; rather, it means that you are not controlled by your circumstances.

·      Paul’s secret to learning contentment was understanding it has nothing to do with circumstances and everything to do with your perspective of Jesus.

III.You Have Everything You’ll Ever Need In Jesus Christ And Nothing Or No One Can Ever Take That From You

In this life, you are going to take some hits; there will be hurts, setbacks, and disappointments, but there is so much more gained in having a relationship with Christ.

·      The Gospel is a model of contentment.

·      We are concerned with our present comfort, but God is concerned with our eternal state.
