“A Vision for the Church"
Colossians 1:1-29 (CSB)
- Church- “The redeemed and gathered people of God commissioned to multiply the Kingdom of God throughout the world.”
- Kingdom of God- “The already, but not yet, reign of God over all of life.”
- Key Truth: “The local church is not a destination but a base of operation.”
- Main Question: What is the church and what should it be about in the world?
1. Gratitude for the church. (vs. 1-8)
2. Prayer for the church. (vs. 9-14)
3. Message for the church. (vs. 15-23)
What is this message?
a. We are separated from God because of our sin. (vs. 21; Rom. 3:23; 6:23)
b. Christ has reconciled us by His death on the cross (and resurrection from the dead). (vs. 22a; 2 Cor. 5:21)
c. He has called those who have placed faith in Him to a different kind of life. (vs. 22b; 2 Cor. 5: 17)
d. He has called us to persevere and proclaim. (vs. 23)
4. Mission for the Church. (vs. 24-29)
