God’s Warrior from Manasseh

Judges 6-7

We are going to take a journey through Judges 6-7 and I hope over the next few weeks to look at the life of Gideon.  A defeated nation finds victory led by a common man.  This story is a lesson for people who discount themselves or are just ready to throw in the towel from constant defeat.

I. A Sinful People  6:1-2; 7-10

·  When a nation turns to idols and forgets God, the people of that nation suffer.

·  Sin always carries consequence.

·  The consequences of sin can affect not only our present but our future.

·  God uses the dominions of the world to discipline us.

II. A Defeated People  6:3-5

·  One Hump or Two? The Power of Camels

·  The nation of faith is walking defeated when believers want acceptance of man instead of God.

·  When political correctness contradicts the Word of God and God’s people hide in silence it is a sign we are defeated.

III. The Extraordinary in the Midst of the Ordinary  6:11

·  Theophany is a “God appearance through His creation.”

·  Ordinary is often the disguise of the divine.

IV. A Coward or a Conqueror?  6:12

·  When we are beat down and hopeless, it is easy to see ourselves as powerless to fight back.

·  We have been made to be conquerors not cowards!

V.Doubts from Despair  6:13

·  Righteous people suffer from the unrighteous actions of others.

·  Righteous people suffer from a fallen world as well.

VI. Weakness turns to Worship  6:14-22

·  You will never know what God can do with you until you surrender.

·  Fear is the natural response of anyone when meeting with holiness.
