Meet The Messiah | Mighty God, Everlasting Father

Isaiah 9:6
When the prophet Isaiah spoke about the one who was coming to deliver the people of Israel, he listed four names that would be used to describe what He would do.  He shares why this deliverer brings hope by declaring His eternal power available for His people.
Hope is an indispensable ingredient for sustaining vitality in life.
Christmas is about God’s gift of hope through a baby born to us.
Addictive behavior is not so much a failure of character but the ensnaring consequences of bad choices that have created a stronghold in a life.
We not only need to understand the way to peace and freedom, we must also find the power to walk in the right way.
The intelligent individual may have the capacity to know truth, but the individual with faith has the capacity to walk in truth.
Hope is employed only by faith.
The power of hope is no greater than the source of that hope.
No God…No hope.  Know God…Know hope.
I. Jesus - Mighty God: The Gift of Strength for our Weakness  John 1:1-4; 14
The Hypostatic Union - the term used to describe how God the Son, Jesus Christ, took on a human nature, yet remained fully God at the same time.
The same power that created the universe and conquered sin and death is the power we can call on for help in time of trouble.
To believe in the Trinity means to believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are essentially one God, even while they retain their own set of individual attributes within the Godhead.
The Trinity is not for human understanding but for human transformation.

II. Jesus - Everlasting Father: The Gift of Security for our Fears  Colossians 1:15-17; 19

Jesus was preexistent with God, present in creation with God, performing God’s plan in history and will be presiding as Lord in eternity.
Our fears are related to what will happen in the future and our Everlasting Father is already there for us.
