The Concern and Competency of a Holy God

I, the LORD, will answer them Myself, As the God of Israel I will not forsake them. Isaiah 41:17b

The Concern and Competency of a Holy God
God does not need us. He loves us, He is jealous for us and He desires a relationship with us, but God is God whether or not we acknowledge that fact. He does not gain identity in us believing in Him. What He is, Who He is, what He says He will do, will be the same for eternity with or without a relationship with us. God is not an idol receiving identity from our beliefs.  He is a being with the capacity to love and meet needs. – Van Houser

God's personal concern for us means that He will meet our needs completely, no matter how complex they may seem to us. He is Omniscient, meaning He knows everything, and He is Omnipotent meaning that He has power over everything. A God with all that power, and yet He pursues us! He pursues us and He understands and bids us come to Him freely to lay our needs and desires in His beyond capable hands. We are asked to come as we are, humble, broken, and covered in sin, and He will never reject us. He already knows us inside and out, all of our weakness, and promises that He will never forsake us. By not forsaking us He is always ready to meet the needs that come up in any and all circumstances of our lives.

God has every resource at His fingertips because He is the creator of every resource! He has the unique ability to meet our needs at any time and at any place because of His power. He often uses other people in our lives to meet our needs, and He will use us to meet other’s needs as well. Part of us helping others is fruit in our own lives from having our own needs met. This fruit not only helps us be prepared spiritually for the next problem, but it helps us see others in a different light and softens our hearts to be willing to help when we can.

What you choose to believe about God will be what you see as truth about Him. If you don’t truly believe that He is sufficient to meet your needs and that He cares enough about you to meet your needs, then truth to you will be that God will not really meet your needs. Then you will go looking for something or someone else to meet needs that only God can meet. If you believe, then expect to see Him moving in your life. Be open to His presence, and be alert in all directions, because He will likely not meet your needs the way you expect Him to.

When we choose to believe this truth about God, we will see Him work in our lives. God wants us to see and know that He is the one that rescues us. He wants us to see Him, not just the provision He provides.  When we become aware of His presence and work in our lives, we become more aware of our relationship with Him, and we see and feel that He does care about us and love us.

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.
