In God We Trust

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.  The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. Romans 13:1-2

The founders of our nation:
·      Believed in GOD; the GOD of the Hebrew bible and were preoccupied with the Bible
·      Believed in forming a God-based country with a non-denominational government
·      Believed in forming a government based on Judeo-Christian values and not Judeo-Christian theology
·      Believed in the necessity of God for morality, for without God, men's morals are corruptible, and can easily be changed

A nation that does not honor God as God is at risk.  A nation that does not follow the principles of God is doomed.  The Christian orientation of this country from its inception is irrefutable.
Over the past several years, President Barack Obama has repeatedly claimed that America is not a "Christian nation."  He asserted that while a U.S. Senator, repeated it as a presidential candidate, and on a presidential trip to Turkey announced to the world that Americans "do not consider ourselves a Christian nation." (He made that announcement in Turkey because he said it was "a location he said he chose to send a clear message."  Then preceding a subsequent trip to Egypt, he declared that America was "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" (the federal government's own statistics show that less than one-percent of Americans are Muslims.)

The President's statements were publicized across the world but received little attention in the American media. Had they been carried here, the President might have been surprised to learn that nearly two-thirds of Americans currently consider America to be a Christian nation and therefore certainly might have taken exception with his remarks. This is another attempt at revisionist action. But regardless of what today's Americans might think, it is unquestionable that four previous centuries of American leaders would definitely take umbrage with the President's statements.
The principles upon which this nation was founded and the constitution was written are no more and no less than the Judeo-Christian Ethic. The ignoring of history is a foolish and dangerous action.  The very foundation of our freedom is embedded in our faith and understanding of God and His desire for men to be free.  Many in America are rejecting the wisdom, counsel and direction of two documents that have enabled this to be the greatest nation on the earth…The Bible and The Constitution of the United States.

A Christian Patriot
A Christian patriot is one who has an "open-eyed allegiance" to his country but can acknowledge the nation's wrongs.  He will prize and protect what is good.

Responsibilities of A Christian Patriot
·      Pray for your country and your representatives.
·      Let your voice be heard. Get involved in your country.
·      Vote your convictions and your conscience.

America professes itself as a dominantly Christian nation.  We may claim the faith of most of the founding fathers and the Constitution as a document that is useful only to a religious nation.  We may gather in churches and hold vigils.  We may rally in stadiums to pray with thousands unified under the American Flag.  But all of this is triviality, a smoke screen, if the basic tenants of true spiritual fulfillment are cast by the wayside.  The Christian is to do more than wave a flag and watch fireworks.  He/she is to be a person of prayer who holds their nation before the Lord.  As Christians we have a responsibility to take a stand for what is right and to hold on to the principles on which our country was founded.  Our voices must be raised and our votes must be cast and our prayers must be said.  To do nothing is to not only do a great disservice to our country but it would be to neglect our allegiance to Christ as well.

Scripture to Claim:

For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. Romans 13:4-5
