Bridges

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but t4hrough Me. John 14:6

We are all familiar with some of the famous bridges like London Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge, The San Francisco Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Seven Mile Bridge, etc.  We drive over bridges every day, little and big, short and long.  But do you ever really stop and think about them?
What exactly do bridges do for us?  They help us get from one place to another when the passageway is impassable.  They help us cross over rivers, valleys, and canyons.  They make it a lot easier to get to many places faster by providing a shortcut.  They keep us from having to take the long way around.  They make it possible to go places we could not go on our own.  They can sustain us and lift us up above dangerous places.  They help us and make a way when there is no way.
We sing a worship chorus that speaks of God’s ability to create passage through the toughest times in life.  His desire is to be our salvation, our guide and our provision.  Singing this chorus we are reminded of God’s providential and personal care.  Remember this?
God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

People Bridges
There are people who serve as bridges for us in our lives.   They carry us, sustain us, and support us.  They help us gain access to places in life we would never be able to get to on our own.  They can help us out of hard places and make a way for us to have a new direction in life.
Jesus is a people bridge for us. There is a great gulf between God and man and Jesus is the bridge that makes it possible for man to have a relationship with God.  For a bridge to be effective, it has to be firmly affixed on both sides of the span.  Jesus, being both God and man, spans the chasm and makes the connection possible.  He is the one and only way to God.  There is no way for us to have a relationship with God except through Jesus Christ. He is the bridge that spans our sin and unworthiness.  He is the way to freedom, the way out of a bad place and the path to a new direction in life.  Get on the bridge to God and don’t look down so you don’t stumble.  Keep your eyes looking straight ahead and move forward toward the goal.
Scripture to Claim:

For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:14
