“Pride”
2 Kings 5:1-19 (CSB)

- Pride- “A high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing or conduct.”
Main Question: How does pride keep us from all God wants us to be and what is to be done about it?
1. Pride is driven by a desire to control our circumstances. (2 Kings 5:1-6)
2. Pride operates on a certain set of assumptions.
(2 Kings 5:7-12)
- The power of pride can lead us to make faulty assumptions, which can lead to faulty reactions, that can have dire consequences.
3. Pride is only countered by humility and surrender.
(2 Kings 5:13-19)
After the Message: Read 2 Kings 5:1-19. What circumstance has caused you to demonstrate pride? What assumptions about God, life, others, etc… have fostered pride in your life? How has God worked in your life to call you to humility and surrender to His will and give control over to Him?
