Rules For Being Human

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:1-6)

Sometimes profound truths are simple truths that we take for granted people know.  You may find this a good teaching for a teenager or even a child who can’t seem to understand life and how it works.  It certainly seemed worth sharing.

Rules For Being Human
by Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott

You will receive a body.
You may like it or hate it,
but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

You will learn lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time, informal school called life.

There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of trial, error and experimentation.
The "failed" experiments are as much
a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work".

Lessons are repeated until they are learned.
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it.
When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

Learning lessons does not end.
There is no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons.
If you're alive, there are still lessons to be learned.

"There" is no better than "here".
When your "there" has become "here",
you will simply obtain another "there"
that will again look better than "here".

Other people are merely mirrors of you.
You cannot love or hate something about another person
unless it reflects to you something
you love or hate about yourself.

What you make of your life is up to you.
You have all the tools and resources you need.
What you do with them is up to you.

The choice is yours.

How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding. For her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain better than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels; and nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. (Proverbs 3:13-16)
