The “Omni–ness” of God – Part III

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O LORD, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it. Psalm 139:1-6

God is Never Out of Touch - OMNISCIENT
God’s knowledge of the world order is denoted by the term omniscience.  By the omniscience of God is meant God's perfect knowledge.  God knows everything that is an object of knowledge; everything that can be known.

From the passage above we learn a great deal about what God’s omniscience means to our lives.  Read over the passage again and see if you discover these truths.

  1. God knows me better than I know myself.
There is no one on this earth who fully knows us.  Others may know parts of our life story and elements of our abilities but only God knows it all.  This passage says that He fully knows who we are, where we have been, what we have done, what we have said and even thought.  When we are before Him in prayer it does no good to try to hide the reality of our lives...and there is no reason to.  He knows all of it and wants us to deal with ourselves honestly.
  2. God understands me better than anyone else.
There is not real acceptance in our lives unless we feel that the person knows us intimately.  That means our greatest weakness as well as our greatest strength.  It is God who knows not only what we do, but why.  The why of our behavior is often even foreign to even us as we seek to understand ourselves; yet He knows it all and loves us.  Such a thought is hard for us to comprehend yet blessed to our lives.
  3. God protects me from things past, present or future.
God knows everything that has happened to us in our past, what is happening in our lives at the present and even what we will face in the future!  He is aware of the effect that all of this has had on us and how we are prepared to face the today and the days to follow.  In His wisdom, He prepares us for the things that lie ahead and guides us into safety.  He protects me from the fallout of what has happened in my past what will happen tomorrow.  Say with the Psalmist, Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it!
So, God is always present and never out of touch with our lives.  He knows right now what is happening in your life, and He knows how you are handling it.  He also knows what choices you face and how those choices will impact your life.  He knows it all and is intimately involved in all.  Spend some time in His Word and let Him reveal to you His plan for your days.

Scripture to Claim
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.  My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;  Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.  How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!  Psalms 139:13-17
