50 Days of Transformation Introduction

How God Changes Us
God loves you just the way you are.  He loves you unconditionally.  But he loves you too much to let you stay that way.  So he wants to help you grow.  He wants to help you become more like his Son.
Elements God Uses To Transform Us- Ephesians 4:11-32
1.     Transformation Requires New Thinking  Ephesians 4:17-19, 23
2.     Transformation Requires Honest Community  Ephesians 4:25, 29, 32
3.     Transformation Requires Learning the Truth  John 17:17; Ephesians 4:14-15 ,21
Sanctification means to be made complete; to mature.  It means to be transformed.
Truth is not simply a principle – it is a person.
Every self-defeating behavior in your life is based on a lie you are believing.
4.     Transformation Requires Cleaning House    Ephesians 4:22
Why Is Getting Rid Of Bad Habits So Hard?
·    Because I’ve had them a long time
When we feel helpless in correcting our wrong we become hopeless about changing our lives.
·    Because I identify with them
We often confuse our identity with our defects.
·    Because they have a payoff
Whatever gets rewarded gets repeated.
·    Because Satan fights it
5.     Transformation Requires Faith  Ephesians 3:20
Motivation is an emotion and like other emotions it is fed by fear or desire.
SETTING PERSONAL GOALS BY FAITH
You’re going to go through life either by design or by default.
Remember, a goal in your head is a dream for tomorrow.
Why Are Goals Important To Changing My Life?
1.     Goals Are Statements of Faith  Matthew 9:29
Let the size of your God determine the size of your goal.
2.     Goals Focus My Energy  1 Corinthians 9:26
You can spend your life, you can waste your life, or you can invest your life.
3.     Goals Keep Me Going  Job 6:11
Long-term goals keep you from being discouraged with short-term setbacks.
4.     Good Goals Will Be Rewarded  Proverbs 11:27; 1 Corinthians 9:25-26a

You will probably never become the person God intends you to be unless you intend to become that person.
