Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
A Word For Election Day
It is finally here – the day many Americans have been
waiting on in 2020. As Christians, we are connected to Christ in a unique and
special way. Everything in our lives
should be defined by and filtered through that connection – how we act, how we
treat others, our choices, and our relationships. Today I want to remind you that
you are an ambassador for Christ before you are anything else. Also, I urge you
to pray – pray for our country and pray for each other, including those who don’t
share your political views. Pray for unity, not in views necessarily, but as one nation,
under God. This year has been full of division - physically, socially,
politically, and spiritually. Division among the people of God is his goal, but
Satan will not get the victory in the end, no matter the outcome of any
election or any other earthly circumstance. He will not have the last word.
Some suggested prayer points for you to remember today by Kerry Patton:
·
Pray that our nation would turn back to God. Blessed
is the nation whose God is the Lord.
Psalm 33:12
·
Pray that we would faithfully lift in prayer
all leaders and those in authority. I urge
then, firs of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be
made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live
peaceful and quiet lives in all Godliness and holiness.
1 Timothy 2:12
·
Pray that we would recognize God’s sovereignty
over everything. But the plans of the Lord
stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11
·
Pray that we would realize that the battle is
spiritual – against what is unseen. For our
struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms Ephesians 6:12
·
Pray that we would not give in to worry,
fear, or defeat. They will have no fear of
bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Psalm 112:7
·
Pray for those in authority that are unjustly
attacked and accused. No weapon that is
formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgement
you will condemn…
Isaiah 54:17
·
Pray that our hope would remain in the Lord
and in God’s great power. Look at the
nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in
your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. Habakkuk 1:5
Above all, remember what you know – that God is in control.
The whole world has felt out of control for months now, but we know that the
King of Kings is still very much in control. We have to trust Him and believe
in His word. Our future, the future of our children, the future of the church, and
the future of our nation are all in the palm of His Holy hands. No matter what else happens in the world, God is still God. He is still the on the throne of this world and the throne of your heart. Give Him the
glory and honor for all He has done and what He will do in all of our tomorrows.
