Jeremiah 1:4-10
God sent Jeremiah a letter
when he was about 20 years old. What God said to Jeremiah may help us to better
understand what He has in mind for our lives.
I. God is Invested in Us
A. God has a Purpose for the
Life He Has Given Us. – v.5b-c
B. God will Enable us to
Fulfill our Life’s Purpose. - v.7-8
God
has a unique purpose for each unique individual.
When you live your life for your
God-given purpose, the end of your life is as meaningful as the rest
of your life.
II. God's Peculiar Purpose in Our Lives...
A. May be character changing. Genesis 35:9-15,
32:28
In the Old Testament, name was
equal to character.
Knowing
your name does not always mean you will accept your name.
A person cannot help
their heredity but they can help what part they appropriate.
Just like Jacob, our identity
only comes after a struggle.
B. May be bigger
than you think you can handle.
Exodus 3:4-5, 4:1, 10-11, 13-14
God-sized tasks cannot be achieved with purely human
capabilities.
C. May not be heard by others. I Samuel 3:3-5,
9-11
God
speaks TO men as well as THROUGH men.
We often live in the "oughtness"
of others rather than the purpose of God.
Nobody
can make you inferior without your permission.
D. May not be understood by others. Luke 1:30- 32
E. May cause a redirection of your whole life. Acts 9:4-6
F. Will be completed
in God’s Time. Philippians 1:6
V. God has a Name For You
Don't be afraid to let the God who made
you run your life.
