Spirit Equipped for Spiritual Service Part II

I Corinthians 12:1-7
God calls, equips and empowers the church for its ministry. Our review will look at characteristics of the gift as expressed in a believer, how they may serve in the Body of Christ and problems that may occur when the gift is misused or abused. 
The Holy Spirit and Gifts
A.    The Holy Spirit is received at spiritual birth. Ephesians 1:13-14; II Corinthians 1:21-22 
B.    The Holy Spirit positions us in the body. I Corinthians 12:11-12 
C.    The Holy Spirit Coordinates the gifts in the body. I Corinthians 1:5-7
·       The balance of gifts provides a spectrum of service.
·       The complete work of the Body of Christ is carried out by the whole body.
D.    The Holy Spirit Empowers the gifts in the body.  Romans 12:6a,b 
The Categories of Grace Gifts – I Corinthians 12:1-7
Motivational GiftsRomans 12:3-8  
The basic inward drive that God gives every believer to initiate and perform their work in the Body of Christ.
1.     Prophecy - Proclaiming Truth
2.     Serving - Meeting Needs
3.     Teaching - Clarifying Truth
4.     Exhortation - Stimulate Faith
5.     Giving - Resource Provider
6.     Ruling - Administration and Coordination
7.     Mercy – Comforter
Ministry Gifts, I Corinthians 12:27-31
Ministry Gifts are the opportunities of Christian service which are open to us for the exercise of our basic motivation, gift.
Manifestations or Effects of Gifts, I Corinthians 12:27-31
The impact or effect on the lives of those under the control of the Spirit.
When we exercise our motivational gift through our ministry gift, the Holy Spirit determines what manifestations will benefit the receiver the most.
