Worthy of Praise Every Day

We get busy in our day to day lives and overwhelmed quickly. Most of us probably do not take the time to remember Who God is and all God has done in our lives. It lives in the back of our minds because we know it and even believe it, but we don’t always live like we believe it.

In Psalm 145, David writes about praising God for Who He is and what He does. It is a Psalm of praise of all David has learned about Who God is and what He does.

In verses 17-21 David points out some reminders about Who God is and what He does  for us to praise the Lord every day.

The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. – We can always, always trust Him with every single part of our lives and with every request we lay at His feet.

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; He hears their cry and saves them. He is near to all who call on Him in truth – pure and sincere worship. He is gracious and longs to fulfill our desires that glorify Him.

The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. This is God’s graciousness (watches over all who love Him) in action and His righteousness (all the wicked He will destroy) in action.

My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name forever and ever. David declares that all of us – all creatures – should praise His holy name forever and ever.

Psalm 145:17-21

These are the last words of David in the Bible. He leaves a legacy of praise for the generations that will come after him. It is easy for us to remember to praise Him on the good days, but we are to be people of praise every day. He knows what we don’t and can see what we cannot. He is worthy of our praise on the good days and the hard days alike.
