Reconciliation

Submitted by Doug Dowd, North Side Baptist Church
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.  2 Corinthians 5:18
Reconciliation is not a word that we use often in our daily lives, yet, it has significant meaning in our calling to share the Gospel message.  In 2 Corinthians 5:18, Paul tells the Corinthians that God has reconciled us to Himself through his Son, Jesus Christ.  This reconciliation points to a change in the relationship that man had with God.  Before Christ, man was eternally separated from God, a chasm far and wide, and no amount of earthly sacrifice would bridge the gap.  But through Christ, we are now new creatures restored to God, and can live in harmony with our Creator.

Paul didn’t stop there.  He went on to say that God also gave us the ministry of reconciliation.  He never intended for us to keep this good news to ourselves.  According to the Joshua Project, there are approximately 6,700 unreached people groups in the world, or over 3.1 billion people who have never heard the Gospel message.  We aren’t just reconciled to God as individuals.  We are also made into messengers of reconciliation and are called to take that message to a lost world.

Lord, I thank you for reconciling me to Yourself through Christ. I pray that I would understand the calling you have given me to share this good news with the world.
