There Stood a Cross

Isaiah 43:1-3a
A Day to Remember
What was it that attacked America?  jealousy, prejudice and hatred.
“Lord Have Mercy!”
Never Forget - Psalms 78:42
It is not enough just to “Never Forget”; We must Remember!
We Remember...
  • the innocent who perished.
  • great courage.
  • selfless sacrifice for others.
And Give Thanks 
  • for dutiful commitment to those in distress.
  • and give thanks for those who live on to pass on life and love.
There Are Heroes All Around Us – John 15:13
Where Was God?  Psalms 115:2-3; Psalms 42:9-10
  • God’s work is often in the unseen areas surrounding our lives.
What did we learn from September 11, 2001?
  • We learned that we need one another.
  • We learned that death, pain and suffering can bring redemption, purpose and new life.
  • We learned that you can’t kill freedom...for it is a spirit and not a thing.
The Cross at Ground Zero - The twisted steel cross was a symbol of hope
          for all who passed by.
Calvary – God’s Ground Zero 
  • Jesus was attacked by men filled with prejudice, jealousy and hatred.
A Hard Conclusion – Isaiah 31:1
National security depends on national righteousness and not our military spending or diplomatic maneuvering.
