The Blessing of God

…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.  Ephesians 1:17

This week we are looking at Gods Best Blessings and how to recognize them in our lives.  The last two days we have learned that God has blessed us, is now blessing us, and will continue to bless us.  That is good news right?  Blessings are a gift, given freely but there is one thing required to receive them form God.  The past two Sundays we have been hearing about Jabez and his request of God to bless him.  He knew the prerequisite for a blessing from God.  There was no question in Jabez's heart concerning Who does the blessing.  He was looking in only one direction … to God.

The Blessing of God:
·     is consistent with the person of God.
·     is accomplished by transformation by God.
·     is secured by the power of God.
·     is sustained by the presence of God.

That is one of our problems … we look to too many other sources, be they family, friends, fancies (social standing) or finances, for the source of our blessings.  He cannot bless us unless he has us.
When we try to keep within us an area that is our own, we try to keep an area of death.  Therefore, in love, He claims all.  There's no bargaining with Him.   --
C.S. Lewis in The Weight of Glory.

God desires full recognition of Himself as the source by which we long to be blessed.  Hebrews 11:6 tells us But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God says He rewards and blesses with restoration … the one who looks to Him. The blessings of God await those who come to Him!  God’s bounty is limited only by us, not by His resources, power or willingness to give.

The Qualification for These Spiritual Blessings
The last two words of verse 3 tell us what a person must do to enjoy all of these spiritual blessings. That one thing is to be "in Christ".

The only way for anyone to enjoy the spiritual blessings of the Lord is for that person to be saved by the grace of God. At the moment of conversion, you are placed into the body of Christ.  You get "in Christ"!  When this happens, you are made a partaker of all the spiritual blessings of the Lord.
Are you in Jesus now? You ask, "How can I know?" The answer is found in 1 John 5:1-2; 13.
(1-2)Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. (13) 1Jn 5:13  These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Does this describe you? If so, then rejoice, for you are blessed with "all spiritual blessings in Christ." If not, you can be saved by coming to Jesus by faith and by receiving Him into your heart and life. Then, you can begin to enjoy all the Lord has to offer!.

Scripture to Claim:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.  2 Corinthians 13:14
