Donnie O’Fallon,
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there will your heart be also. Matthew 6: 19 -21

Faith see’s the invisible, believes the unbelievable, does
the impossible and performs the incredible. The above scriptures are part of
the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus was telling His Disciples a spiritual truth
by using a very practical truth; an example they could readily identify
with. As He was embarking on His earthly
ministry, it was important for them to be able to see what was really important...the
eyes of Faith.
TREASURES: Jesus
was saying to them and us that we should focus on eternal over earthly
treasures. Heaven is eternal but the
earth is temporary. God is eternal while
circumstances are temporary. The path of God is eternal but earthly trails are
temporary. The word of God will never pass away while men’s opinions will fade.
God’s gift is everlasting life yet natural life is only temporary. The treasure
is the place in which good and precious things are collected. You see, what I
deem to be important and valuable will show itself in my life. What I do, where
I go, how I invest my time and my money. Those things are what I’m going to
gravitate toward.
The problems of this nation, this state and this age will
not be conquered by another political party moving into the White House. Your
faith can’t be in a political party, nor this world. You cannot trust in this
world. this world system, the things of this world or the people in it. You
must look through the eyes of faith, above this earthly plain and put your
heart in the place it must be.
TEMPORAL OR ETERNAL: If
we put our faith in the things of God, then the things we see are temporary but
those things that are not seen are eternal. I’ve heard it said that, “Christians can be so heavenly minded that
they are no earthly good.” As Christians we must be able to relate to
people, but we have to remember to whom we belong and where our citizenship is
and understand what it means to be “heavenly-hearted.”
That’s means, Heaven is my home, Jesus is my
Savior and Lord and that’s where my heart Is.
The questions that must be
answered are, what really matters in your life? What are the things that are
most valuable? Finally, is what you hold as valuable considered eternal or
temporary?
Prayer: Father,
may our constant gaze be upon you and those eternal things that are a part of
your kingdom and our glance at path that ultimately leads us HOME!
