Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on
your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make
straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
It’s easy to understand the concept of trusting in God
completely. However, because of our pride, it’s difficult to know the reality
of completely trusting Him. Without thought, we smuggle in self-importance and
self-reliance—placing ourselves above the Creator of everything.
Oftentimes we associate trusting in God only with the major
life decisions and events, but we’re called to “acknowledge him” in everything
we do. The same level of submission is required for the mundane as it is for
the overwhelming. I’m convinced this can only be done when our lives are
steeped in prayer and scripture.
We have the promise that this acknowledgement will bring
God-given insight regarding His purpose for our lives, even if it’s just one
step at a time. If our lives are to glorify God, we must seek Him and submit to
Him in every way.
In personal witnessing, I’m often
concerned that my testimony is unrelatable or won’t resonate with the person
I’m sharing with. I’m quick to forget that my primary responsibility in this situation
is to seek the Holy Spirit for the words to share and the way to share it, and
to trust the Lord for the eternal impact. Anything less is prideful and leaning
on my own limited understanding.
Lord, may my commitment
to You be complete. May I love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may bring You glory in everything I
think and do.
