“The time promised by God has come at
last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and
believe the Good News!” Mark 1:15
An upside down life causes us to do a few things
differently:
Puncture your own
dignity.
Look at yourself. You're important, but not that important.
Jesus called us sinners. We must see ourselves rightly. However, Jesus told us
what to do. He told us, "Repent". In other words, turn around to go
forward. No matter how far you've gone down the wrong road, it is the right
road when you turn around.
It's the inside stuff
not the outside stuff.
Things usually work from the inside out. The outside
circumstances change later. Belief is on the inside. At the core, it's seeing
Jesus rightly. Our thinking is turned upside down when we see Jesus as the Son
of a living, personal God. When we see Jesus rightly, we understand He is the
only way our life and our world can be turned right-side up.
Become dependent.
Develop an attitude of perpetual dependence; choose to bring
God into every circumstance. That's what
Jesus meant when He said, "Follow me" (Mark 1:17).
Obedience is applying Jesus' example to all of our ways. By
seeing ourselves rightly, and seeing Jesus rightly, our lives will be turned
upside down.
Lord, teach me to be completely dependent
on you. Help me to follow you by daily applying the example Christ has set for
me.
