For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15 (Amplified)

This Sunday is Father’s Day – the day chosen to celebrate
good ole dad. There is a deep stirring of emotions on this special day
depending on the relationship one has with their earthly father. Some folks
have anticipated this celebration for weeks to shower their parent with gifts
and love while there are some who will do whatever it takes to forget that
Father’s Day even exists.
Whether you woke up this morning with fond memories of
dad or maybe just as if it was an ordinary day, your Heavenly Father woke up
with YOU on His Mind! He chose the man that would father you with great purpose
and anticipation. You were not a mistake, an afterthought or obligation. You
were part of a dynamic plan. However, so often our hopes and dreams become
contingent on people rather than God. The enemy recognized this weakness and
formed a devastating plan. If he can make you bitter, angry or displeased with
your natural father, he identified that he can break your connection to God.
Two simple
truths can set you free today!
First, your earthly father is a man with sin that lives in his body. This flaw makes him susceptible to imperfection, selfishness and weakness just like every other mortal on the planet. Your Heavenly Father is perfect in every way. Too often the role of each dad is confused because we place unrealistic reliance and trust on a human being rather than placing them on Almighty God. When you choose to take your high expectations of perfection from your dad and place them on God – you will begin to experience freedom like never before.

Second, let your biological father off the hook that
actually is holding you and say today, “I forgive you for missing the mark!” In
return, God will open the floodgates of His Kingdom and release a Father’s
Blessing over you like never before. Every hurt that your earthly father
exacted will be healed. Abandonment will no longer cause anxiety. Your
relationship with your dad will improve when you choose to pour grace into the
relationship and put faith in God alone.
Can you forgive your dad today? It is the best Father’s
Day gift you will ever give yourself! Your Spiritual Daddy is ready to receive
all the love that may have been misplaced in another father. He desires for you
to let go of the anger, bitterness, and hurt and forgive your dad as He has
forgiven you.
If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you
will abide in My love and live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father’s
commandments and live on in His love. I have told you these things, that My joy
and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full
measure and complete and overflowing. John 15:10-11 (Amplified)
