Responding In Faith When Hope Is Lost
This world. If there is one thing we have learned in the last two years, we know that looking at the world around us can sap our hope faster than anything. Anytime we look at our circumstances, our hope will be lost. In fact, if your hope is lost, I am sure you are looking for hope in the wrong place.
But what do we do when we lose hope?
Rest In Who He Is – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 God is a stronghold and fortress for us. He is our safe place and lifter of our heads. When we lose hope, we can remember who God is and what He has done and, in faith, we can rest in this.
Remember Who We Are In Him - But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5 The birth of Jesus was so we could be redeemed and adopted by God. We are His adopted children and an heir to His We have all the rights and all the privilege because we belong to Him. Our inheritance is of a child of God and our eternal future is secure. Even if we have trouble finding hope, we can know in faith that He is coming back for us. He is a covenant keeping, promise keeping God. So when we lose hope because of our circumstances, we can respond in faith because of what we know to be true – regardless.
And Respond In Faith
He is the greatest hope we have. He is the only hope we have. And He is the greatest hope that we can give to others. When hope is nowhere to be found, faith carries us through. In faith we can keep going, putting one foot in front of the other, despite all hope being lost.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV)
