The 9: Learning to Live Authentically
“Self-Control”
2 Peter 1:3-11 (CSB)

Key Truth: How we live will be determined by the transformation of our character.”

Self- Control - "The ability to pursue the important over the urgent, rather than always being impulsiveor uncontrolled."

Main Question: How does the Holy Spirit grow the fruit of self-control in our lives so that we might look and act more like Jesus?

1.    We are to live self-controlled lives. (2 Peter 1:3-7)

a.    Self-control is the by-product of living with integrity and knowledge, which begins in the mind.

b.    Self-control leads to patience which produces godlinessbrotherly affection, and agape love.

 

2. Self-control is a sign of spiritual maturity(2 Peter 1:8)

 

3.  Lack of self-control is a sign of spiritual immaturity
(2 Peter 1:9-11)

After the Message:

Read Galatians 5:19-21. Which of these vices do you struggle with? How will the fruit of self-control help you defeat these obstacles to spiritual maturity?
