Will Rogers once said, "You may be on the right track, but
you'll get run over if you just sit there." There are thousands of quotes on record
dealing with the topic of procrastination. Procrastination may be one of
Satan's most powerful tools.
A sinner under conviction
puts off making a decision about salvation because Satan is there saying,
"Wait until tomorrow." Then
after a person becomes a Christian, Satan is still there causing him/her to put
off until a more convenient time the doing of good works like helping those in
need or some other good deed. The devil
is no respecter of persons when it comes to procrastination.
Even Paul had a problem
with this. He said, "For
I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not
want to do. (HSB Romans 7:19)
We should not feel less
guilty about putting off doing good works just because others are doing the
same thing. Maybe we need to tell'
someone that we love him/her, make a visit to see a sick person, or write a
letter to someone who is discouraged while he/she is still alive instead of
having to bear that awful feeling of guilt after hearing of their death.
