Prince of Peace: The Gift of Peace for our Troubled Lives

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Romans 12:18  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
All across our world and across the landscape of our lives we need the peace which might heal are hate and prejudice.  Men and women of all races and classes, all nationalities and persuasions yearn for a deep and abiding peace, an end to our restlessness, a quiet in the heart. Where will it come from and who will bring it to us? Who can make the wounded spirit whole?

More than 2700 years ago the prophet Isaiah spoke of one who would accomplish this. For to us a child is born... And His name will be called...Prince of Peace.  Many dream of a day when all the people in the world can just get along.  It is a lofty dream and one that we will never see.  Why?  Because man does not possess the ability to create total peace.

The world's thirst for peace will not be satisfied by libraries full of political science books or armories chock full of sophisticated weapons systems.  It is in this fragile, helpless Jesus child of Bethlehem that healing lies. People who do not have inner peace live at war with themselves, not others. In the wake of their surrender, Christ sends an inner tranquility that no tranquilizer on earth can touch.  On that first Christmas the angels came to announce true peace was now possible through the Savior.  Ephesians 2:14a For He Himself is our peace…

One recent survey indicates . . .
- 40% of the things we worry about never happen.
- 30% are in the past and can't be changed.
- 12% concern the affairs of others that aren't our business.
- 10% involve real or imagined sickness.
- 08% are worth worrying about.

John 14:27  "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Neil Warren the author of "God Said It, Don't Sweat It" says this concerning peace; “As a psychotherapist for the past thirty years, I have watched thousands of men and women go through perilous times.  I have noted on many occasions that those who pray passionately end up overcoming the difficulties they face.  They bring a "mighty power" to the issues they confront..."

Philippians 4:6-7  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The peace that the "Prince of Peace" offers is not a dream but a reality.  He comes to bring us an everlasting Christmas filled with His peace.  Come to the manger this Christmas and experience that which the angels sang of when they said, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." Luke 2:14

Scripture to Claim:
Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
