For
unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be
upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty
God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Christmas everlasting is in knowing that God who is
omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing), omnipresent (always
present), our Creator and Sustainer has come down to us to overcome our
weaknesses.
His power is our hope and strength to overcome in life. Sadly, rather than living as conquerors, we often
live as victims to our own weaknesses.
We live in half-truths and fears, never becoming what we are to be in
Christ. Hear what the Word says about
who we are in Him: Romans 8:37-39 Yet in all these things (tribulation,
distress, persecution, famine,
nakedness, trouble or death) we are more than conquerors through Him who
loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height
nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the
love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
An "Everlasting Christmas" is refusing to live in
our weaknesses when Christ has promised us strength to live life. Don’t allow His form to deceive you as to His
power. This babe in the manger is the
incarnate Son of God. "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me
you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have
overcome the world." (John 16:33)
Everlasting Father: The Gift of
Security for our Fears
Security is found in the constant and eternal presence of
God. Isaiah speaks of an "Everlasting
Father" ... one who has come to our world in flesh to care for
our needs. Jesus is the "Everlasting
Father" in the flesh.
Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage
again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,
"Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that
we are children of God, and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified
together. .
Through His life, the "Everlasting Father" offers
us everlasting life, victorious over death.
He has come to make us sons and daughters. Jesus says He came that you and I may have
the blessings and security of life in an abundant fashion in the here and now. This babe in the manger brings life from
eternity.
As sons and daughters we are able to live in the Father's security
who, knowing us completely, cares for us fully.
Rest in your Everlasting Father's" arms today, tomorrow and all
eternity, and enjoy the "Everlasting Christmas" He has given to
us.
