And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2, NLT)
Are you worried about your future? (part 1)
Let’s consider these verses written by the Apostle Paul to the believers at Rome. In essence, the Scripture says to begin by giving complete control to God, make your life a living sacrifice, and instead of chasing what the world says you need, let God transform the way you think. When I see the future through my eyes, I see all my past mistakes, but when I see the future through God's eyes, I see my progress and I see my potential. When I see the future through my eyes, I see the here and now, but through God's eyes, I see the hope of Heaven. When I see the future through my eyes, I see reasons to give up, and sometimes there are a lot of them. But, when I see the future through God's eyes, I see all the reasons to keep pressing on. As you allow God to transform your thinking, as you begin to realize how mighty and powerful God is and that He that wants a relationship with you, you will begin to realize that He has a lot more in store for you than you ever dreamed of.
Consider what Paul wrote to another group of believers:
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (Philippians 4:6-8, NLT)
Take a moment to think about what God is saying to you through these passages of Scripture. What can you do to better focus your mind upon God and what he has for your life? Today, ask God to change the way you think, to allow His thoughts to be your thoughts, to see the world through His eyes.
