Royals

Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.  Galatians 4:4-7

If someone gave you a gift and never took it out of the box and used it, it would be totally wasted.  Or suppose you were very sick and given a prescription, but you never filled it.  You would not get any benefit from the medicine.  Our Heavenly Father, the King of Kings, has given us the best gift ever – adoption into His family.  That means we are sons and daughters of the King.  We are royals!  With that gift, comes many bonuses, but many of us are not fully utilizing this gift of adoption.  We are Sons and Daughters of the King and we need to live like royals!

As God’s children, we are free from the slavery of sin and we have been given the inheritance of the King.  The verses above point out three things that we are promised as His Sons and Daughters. 

We are Redeemed – We are truly our own worst enemies, and He is our gracious King who has plucked us out of the sticky lives of sin that we were leading.  The Bible is clear about sin – The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a)…We deserve death for our sinful actions, but the Bible is also clear about God’s mercy and love – but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23b  God sent His own Son to pay the penalty for us and by that sacrifice we are redeemed, and taken in as His own.

We are Claimed – He is our Abba, Father.  We have the privilege of coming into His very presence anytime we need Him.  We are bound to Him by His Son and adopted as His children.  He loves us like He loves Jesus and everything we were before Him is wiped away.  He never looks at us in any way except with the love of a Father, even when we fail Him.

We Have Riches Beyond Measure - So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.  Galatians 4:7  Everything in this world was created by God and its all His, but as His children, He wants to share it all with us.  Yet, out of all the riches of this world, God Himself is the most valuable, most satisfying, and most fulfilling gift we could ever have.  He gives Himself and for eternity.

We are Royals – sons and daughters of the Most High King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There is none above Him, there is none more important or more powerful, and He loves us!  He invites us into His royal family and gives us all the benefits.  We carry His name and He wants us to take it to all the nations, to the rich, and to the poor, far and wide.
