Pray Like This... “And Do Not Bring Us Into Temptation"

Pray Like This...
“And Do Not Bring Us Into Temptation"
Matthew 6:9-13  (CSB)

- Prayer - “Prayer is a personal conversation with a holy and loving God that reorients our reality and makes all things possible.”

- Key Truth - “To pray like Jesus prayed is to see like Jesus sawtrust like Jesus trusted, and live like Jesus lived.”

Main Question: What is a proper understanding of how to pray for God’s protection in the midst of trials and temptations?

1.           We will be tempted.

Three types of temptation in Scripture:

a. The Bible describes temptations as trials or testing.

b. The Bible describes temptations as enticement to sin.

c. The Bible described temptations that arise from within.

2.        God will uphold us when we are tempted.

3.        We must stand strong when tempted.

How to avoid temptation:

a. Begin every day by submitting to the Holy Spirit, asking him to empower you to live faithfully for Jesus. (Ephesians 5:18)

b. Take every temptation immediately to the Lord, asking him for the strength to refuse it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

c. If you do fail, confess your sin immediately and seek God’s forgiving and cleansing grace. (1 John 1:9)

d. Make reparations whenever doing so benefits the other person. (Matthew 5:23–24)

e. Focus your mind throughout the day on biblical truth and that which is “worthy of praise.” (Philippians 4:8)
