O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord,
pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your
city and your people are called by your name.”
Daniel 9:19
Today is the
National Day of Prayer. Every year I
think to myself that our Country could not need prayer any more than it does
now, but then the next year rolls around and the state of affairs in the world seem
worse than the previous year. It feels
like things are getting worse and America is moving further away from God every
day.
Today Christians everywhere need to take a moment out of the
day and pray for America and the
leaders of our nation. Here are some
specific guidelines from the National Day of Prayer Task Force
website:
·
Government: Pray for our local, state, and
national leaders. Ask God to grant them
wisdom, discernment, and hearts that are open to His leading.
·
Church: Pray for the churches and church leaders
throughout our nation and in your community.
Ask God to preserve and protect them, as He inspires and empowers them
to equip His Saint’s for ministry.
·
Military: Pray for our Military and its leaders. Pray for God to grant courage, protection,
and strength for them and their families.
·
Family: Pray for families in our nation, your state,
and throughout your community. Pray for
the Lord to protect and strengthen marriages, encourage parents and bring
healing to relationships.
·
Education: Pray for God’s presence in our schools, colleges,
and universities. Ask Him to select
teachers and administrators who honor His statutes, protect our children, and
inspire them to discover their God given calling.
·
Business: Pray for divine intervention in our national,
state, and local economics. Ask God to
raise up godly business leaders and create ministry to provide honest
employment and generous provision for individuals and families in each
community.
About the National
Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding
of the United States of America, evidenced by the
Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In
1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was
amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
Bring your friends and family and come join
