Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. Isaiah 55:2b-3
Parched and thirsty is no way to live. God offers the living water that satisfies completely. We only have to claim it to receive it.
Recognition of God's abundant provisions is necessary.
After we recognize and admit that we need the living water that only God can provide, we have to realize that God has everything we need. Everything He offers is enough to satisfy.
It is through our relationship with Him we can have access to what He has.
It is through our relationship with Him we can have access to what He has.
Notice the words above that infer relationship: "listen, incline your ear, listen" Many a man is totally unaware of what God has to offer because he has yet to meet God. We also must get to the point that we want God to meet our needs and we are willing to lay down our wants. v.2b eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance…
The meeting of our needs over our desires is God's greatest problem in our lives. We often fight for that which we feel would be "good" only to lose that which is best. God wants us to HEAR from Him what is the very best for our lives and DESIRE that.
Discovering God's mercy displayed in history - I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, and a nation which knows you not will run to you, Because of the LORD your God, even the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you. v.3b-5
Just as God promised to keep His good hand on David, so He promised to those who come to Him that He will never remove His good hand (His blessings) from them. He will always be with them and consider them His people.
Recognition of the urgency of the need. Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7
Time is of the essence. Right now is the moment. Once you are at the point that you recognize and admit your need for Him, don’t wait!
God's presence is dependent on His nature - while He may be found, while He is near
God is OMNIPRESENT. He is everywhere. There is no place that God is not and wherever He is He is all there.
Experiencing God's presence is dependent on our response –Seek and call are words of imperative. To “seek” the Lord is to stop dawdling and to become intentional about him. When you are thirsty enough, you will seek. When you are miserable enough and don’t want to go on, you will seek. God's initiative to meet our needs can only be effective if we respond to His call. We all have spiritual seasons. When the rain comes, we must be ready to receive it. “While he is near”
The cry is to capture the moment of sensitivity to the comfort and provision that God supplies. Many a man has walked away from the moment and lost his whole life
There is good news in that God will answer when we seek and call. When we realize our need and the abundance He provides, He graciously gives, He is waiting to give. Call on Him today.
