A God Who Delivers

God Speaks to Us
Just as God spoke to those in the Bible, like Moses with the burning bush, He speaks to us too.  Although some of us would prefer a burning bush in the middle of nowhere speaking to us, God does speak to us through His Word and it is a relevant to us today and it was in the day it was written.  It is just as applicable to us as it was to Moses and Abraham, we just have to apply it.  The Bible is God’s Word, spoken by Him for our understanding of the truth and as a guide for us, to live our lives in righteousness.  He doesn’t speak to us only to rebuke and condemn us as some may believe.  Quite the contrary, as Romans 8:1-2 tells us: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.  God speaks to us to give us freedom from the law that leads to sin and death.  He speaks to us to draw us to Him so we can have no condemnation and freedom from sin and death.

God Sees and Hears
God sees far more than we imagine and hears everything we don’t say.  He hears the words of our heart that our mind cannot form.  He hears the afflicted, the oppressed, the confused, the grieving, the lonely, and the neglected.  He hears what we cannot express. 

He sees what others cannot see – our hearts.  He also sees what we think we are hiding.  He is all knowing - Omniscient - meaning He knows all things.  He is everywhere at the same time - Omnipresent - so He misses nothing.  He is all powerful - Omnipotent - so there is nothing that He cannot do.  There is nothing that He sees and hears that He doesn't have the power to handle.  When we feel alone, we can know that He always sees and hears us and we are never without Him. He cares about everything in our lives and hearts.  

God Delivers Us We try so hard to solve all our own problems and in turn, we make more problems for ourselves.  We put our trust in the gods of wealth, pride, and power.  They do not deliver, but our Heavenly Father will always deliver us.  It may not be the way we thought He would - in fact - it will almost never be the way we think it should happen, and thank God for His divine wisdom!  God never takes us the easy way.  He goes through the sea, through the wilderness, and over every mountain.  We don't learn the lessons He has for us on the easy road.  The lessons are in the wilderness and on the other side of the mountain.  The journey is where He transforms and delivers us, not the destination. 

The delivery happens in our hearts when He delivers us from the bondage of sin. God's greatest work was in His Son, Jesus, defeating our greatest enemy, Satan. He delivered us completely from sin and death, into the righteousness of Holy God, where we have freedom and eternal life in Him.

So that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope.  And He will yet deliver us.  2 Corinthians 1:9b-10
