An Undeserved Love
Just as Christ chose to die on a cross, sharing His last moments
with two thieves, He chooses us. He was the King of Kings, but He spent His life
here on earth in dusty sandals, traveling the dirt roads on foot, and seeking
out the lost, discarded, and undeserving. He chooses the company of undeserving
sinners. What kind of a king does this? The kind that was born in a stable and died
on a cross for undeserving sinners like you and me.
The beauty of God’s love is this – in His eyes, no one is undeserving.
Everyone qualifies and He loves us all the same. The thief on the cross and the
preacher in the church are the same in His eyes. Some other beautiful things
about God’s love are:
He saves by grace, through faith, and without works – His gospel applies to everyone,
from all walks of life. There are no prerequisites. Everyone qualifies because He
expects us to bring nothing to the table except a receiving heart and a faith
to believe.
You enter heaven by forgiveness and
through the righteousness that Jesus gives you. You do not enter heaven by how
you have lived your Christian life. This is the good news: your acceptance with
God does not depend on your performance in the Christian life. – Sam Nobles
He gives complete assurance -When we ask and receive the gift of
salvation, we are saved. In that second, if we died, we would be in heave.
Righteousness is ours through the cross instantly, just like the thief on the
cross.
He finds joy in redeeming sinners – No matter how bad you think you
are, or how many mistakes you have made, He delights in your salvation. He
pursues us and waits, and when we
Even when we are so undeserving,
God’s love never leaves us. He never turns His back or gives up on us. Like a
loving parent, He continues to see the best in us when we continue to give Him
our worst. Every time we turn back, He is there, arms open wide, welcoming us
back into His will.
Do not
ever imagine that Christ is reluctant to save you. Christ says “Amen” to the simplest
faith. He is not looking to keep you out. He is looking to bring you in! – Sam Nobles
He promises a life of indescribable
joy – This world promises much and delivers little. But God delivers what He
promises. In this world there will be trials and pain along with joy. As a
Christian, we are promised eternal life in heaven when we leave this earth. We will
have an eternity full of joy like we have never known.
He is with us now and always – He does
not leave us alone here on earth. We can endure this life here on earth with hope
because we have faith and we know what our future holds. He has work for us to
do while we are here – to make disciples.
This love from our Heavenly Father
is so undeserved if we look at ourselves. There is nothing we have done or
could do that would make us deserve of His love. Yet He loves us enough that He
gave His life for us. When we accept that love and the gift of salvation He
gives, we can live confidently in His love, grace, and mercy, knowing that one
day we will be with Him forever in Heaven.
This is how God
showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we
might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved
us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since
God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:9-11
