Discovering My “ONE”
A believer who does not seek to perform the mission of the church never truly understands what they possess in Christ. There are people all around us every day that need spiritual awakening. This is the mission of the church - that we share Christ with those that need Him and don’t know Him.
North Side Baptist Church Mission Statement
Through Worship, we will praise God’s greatness!
Through Education, we will prepare God’s people!
Through Evangelism and Missions, we will proclaim God’s message!
Through Ministry and Fellowship, we will prove God’s love!.
Worship and education that we make an end in itself is basically self-centered and not mission-centered.
The church exists as the body of Christ and His love, not the symbol of Christ and His love.
Religion will never perform the purpose of God like a living faith will.
God’s calls on us is first for the one, not just for the masses.
There is some level of responsibility that each one of us has for every other person on this earth.
They Were Mission-Minded
All followers of Christ are called to be missionaries.
They Were Others-Minded
We don't know their names or their relationship to the man or to one another.
They had the HEART of Jesus – Compassion
They had the EYES of Jesus – Sympathy
They Were Purpose-Driven
Things they had against them:
· The crowd
· The circumstances - stairs, the weight, the tiling
· The need to get their own needs met.
A person without vision will be a person without determination.
They Showed Faith in Their Lord
Note: When Jesus saw THEIR faith He healed the man.
This is known as "vicarious faith" – believing what God can do for another.
Believing for another cannot save them but it can certainly move heaven into earth for them to seetheir need.
Their Reward Was Satisfying
Their names were never known because the glory went to Jesus.
DAY1 | TURN ON YOUR LIGHT Taken from Who's Your One - NAMB
You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.
MATTHEW 5:14-16, NLT
Have you ever noticed what happens on a summer night when the porch lights come on? They beam out an invitation to an insect party! Instantly, those lights’ glow draws dozens of flies, mosquitos, gnats, and the like.
Interestingly, lights are pretty simple objects. They aren’t loud. They aren’t demonstrative. They don’t do special tricks to draw attention. Lights just shine. And whatever they attract, they simply elicit because of its consistent presence.
Many people have taken steps towards a relationship with Jesus because of one person who simply allowed their light to shine. NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy, known for finding ways to use his vast platform to share his faith, once pointed to two individuals. His mother and his former teammate with the Pittsburgh Steelers drew Tony’s attention to a deep relationship with Jesus without any extra fanfare.
These two witnesses just stood on the strength of who God called them to be, and Dungy was drawn in and allowed a bright light for Christ to be placed within him. His light has shone around the globe.
If you’re a Christian, you’ve got the same “porch light” power in you except the power of your light isn’t measured by wattage, but by the presence of Jesus shining through you in word and deed. You’ve already got what it takes — right now — to attract one soul to Him. Who is your one?
Take time today to prayerfully consider your one. Who is one individual you see consistently or have a true burden for? Identify that person and begin asking God to give you fresh opportunities to draw them to Jesus through His light inside you.
God, I know you have a purpose for me in regard to those you have brought into my life. I know there is ONE that you have purposed for me to pray for that they might be saved and know the abundant and eternal life that Christ provides. I want to commit myself to you to be a vessel of reconciliation. Guide my thoughts as I consider all of those from my family, my peers and other relationships who are in need of salvation that I might know MY ONE. Keep my thoughts on this purpose for this day and prepare the heart of the ONE you have already chosen.
