“So shall My word be that goes forth from
My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I
please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11
NKJV)
When God speaks it is impossible for things to stay the
same. In the very beginning, God spoke, and the world was created. This pattern
followed when God created everything on the earth. God spoke, it came to pass,
and God called it good. Throughout the entire Bible this pattern emerges. God
reveals His plans, things occur just as God said they would, and the result is
good. I find it simply amazing that God never makes suggestions but speaks with
full expectation that He will see all that He has said come to pass.
Jesus, just like the Father, saw all that He said come to
pass.
- It didn’t take the lepers
long to realize that a word from Jesus meant healing (Luke 5:13).
- The blind discovered that
a word from Jesus meant being able to see (Luke 18:42).
- The disciples saw that a
word from Jesus could wither a barren fig tree (Mark 11:20).
- A woman caught in adultery
found that forgiveness and freedom from sin is found in a word from Jesus
(John 8:11).
As far as I know, it only took Jesus one attempt to raise
Lazarus from the dead. In fact, there is never a time that Jesus spoke that
what He said did not come to pass. Someone has astutely said that the reason
God can never lie is because all that He says comes to pass.
How about when Jesus speaks to you? Jesus rebuked the
Pharisees because they believed that the knowledge they had of the written Word
would give them life. They were content knowing words instead of knowing the
One who spoke the words (John 5:39).
How powerful a word from God can be to your life. Read your Bible and pray,
listen to what God has to say; it may be that God has something to reveal to
you about His will for your life.
Scripture to Clam:
“For no
word from God will ever fail.” (Luke 1:37 NIV)
