I am the LORD, and
there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have
not known Me; that men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that
there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, the One
forming light and creating darkness, causing well-being and creating calamity;
I am the LORD who does all these. Isaiah

God Has it All Together - Omnipotence
With the Coronavirus scare going on right now, fear is running rampant in our world. It is in times like this that we need to remember the omnipotence of our God. He is literally the strong man of
the universe. No force, physical or spiritual holds more power than God and this power is described by the term omnipotence.
In terms of man, we have experienced
the likes of men who believe they are all powerful. But I ask today, where are
the likes of Alexander the Great? Napoleon? Hitler? Stalin? Let these be
examples to the so-called strong men of today that they too will fade in the
sunset as others. Only God is all powerful.
However, in God's great power He does
not overrule His own nature. Paul tells
us in his writing of Titus (1:2) that God cannot lie. The only limits upon God are self-imposed
limitations. God cannot do that which is
inconsistent with his moral character. To
do so would be to deny His very nature as God. To say that he cannot lie or that he can do no
wrong is not to limit God's power but to display His nature. To do a morally wrong or rationally absurd
thing is not evidence of strength, but of weakness.
God also respects the world order
which he has established. He does not act inconsistently with that order. For
instance, he respects man's freedom. He does not deal with man in such a way as
to violate his nature as a free being. He gave us the freedom to choose, the freedom to sin or not. The same may be
said concerning any other limitation placed on God by the order of the world.
Perhaps the greatest show of power is
not the flexing of muscles, but rather the laying down of one's power for the
betterment of all. And God did just that. Regarding His own life, Jesus said, No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I
have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I
have received from My Father. John
10:18 The "All
Powerful" God of the universe laid down His power so that you and I might
be saved through His power. What a powerful God we serve!
What
does God being omnipotent have to do with our lives today? Every promise God has ever made is as secure
as He is strong. If God cannot be
thwarted or overcome by any other power, then every promise is secure! He is OUR God! For whatever is
born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the
world--our faith. 1 John 5:4 Claim His promise for your life this day!
