Unceasing Love

Monday, June 1, 2020 Some material taken from Boundless Love by Van Houser
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25

We officially got to worship together, in person, in our Worship Center yesterday. It was so good to be back!  There is nothing like communal worship of our Heavenly Father. Brother Van brought a great sermon on the boundless love of Jesus Christ. Never is the boundless love of Jesus Christ felt more than in the company of believers. One has only to
Christ’s character is to love. His nature is to love. His love was a natural response, and when we truly have him in our hearts, we take on His nature. Love is part of the fruit that comes out of our lives when we become children of God.
Unceasing Love - There are many characteristics of the boundless love that Christ exampled for us. The first characteristic is that it is an unceasing love. It never ends and He never takes a break.  It never runs out and He never gives up on us. When others give up on us, He never will. He walks through everything with us, every step of the way.
Unceasing Love Creates Trust - When there is no love, there is no trust. A relationship that is not built on trust is built on fear and will always be superficial, never deepening or increasing. This kind of relationship will not provide the security we all seek in our relationships.  Jesus is the One we can always trust. He always sees, He always hears, He always knows, and He always cares.  Even when we cannot understand what He is doing, He is always working for our best interests, and we can trust Him. He is the only One that can provide the security we desire. As we have experienced the trust provided by His unceasing love, it filters out into our relationships.  We love others with a love that creates trust.
Unceasing Love Creates a Place to Belong - The desire to belong will bring people to church before a desire to know Christ will. As Christians we try to get the message to people of God’s unceasing love so that they realize they can always come to God and feel loved and accepted. People should feel that at church also, whether they are a visitor or longtime member. It is God’s design for church to provide a loving fellowship where we all feel we belong. He knew we needed fellowship with other believers where we feel we belong. A place to belong means space for differences as well as likenesses in our hearts. We may have similar likes and strengths but
God created us all individually, and if He can accept all and love everyone, we definitely should be accepting of those who are different than us. We are all His children and He makes space in His heart for each and every one of us.
Unceasing love is not a commitment we make, it is Christ’s character in us. He modeled this unceasing love as a man here on earth and He loves us with this same unceasing love. We can show this unceasing love to those in our church by providing a warm, inviting, safe place they can belong, and learn about Christ’s unceasing love.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. I John 1:8
