Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act, Psalms 37:5 CSB
What is it about us that stops us before we’re finished, that settles for less? It is easy to become satisfied before we realize our potential in life. I myself can identify too many times when I have prayed too little, expected too little, and done too little. I was satisfied with mediocre. It is the “second-bests” of life that steal our potential. God has so much more for us than just a mediocre existence. God wants to use us in missions and evangelism, but we settle for much less.
An Abundant Life is Worth Fighting For
Without it, all we know is an existence shaped by the circumstances and dictated by others. For most individuals who become victims in life, it was not the circumstances or other people that defeated them…it was their own lack of purpose, passion or the determination and dedication to see it come to pass.
There are some things in life that are out of our control, but God wants us to take responsibility for what is in our control and most of the time, the only thing we can control is ourselves. If you are the person that is always looking for the least you can do, or only doing what is required, then this is for you. There are too many of us spending our lives working to fill our houses and driveways. There is so much more to be had in abundant life in Jesus Christ. He desires for us to live, reallylive, and He has everything we need to do that, but we have to want it.
Living abundantly is not about having the best things, the nicest house, or the most impressive car. It’s not even about reaching all our goals or achieving personal greatness. It’s about being consumed with an importance and urgency bigger than us and greater than we can imagine.
Fear Can Cause Failure
God has plans for us that we can hardly imagine. He wants to deliver us out of our struggling existence, where we merely survive day to day, to a life filled with fullness. Fear can paralyze us so that we never take risks and discover how strong we really are. Risk is not always dangers. Sometimes it just means doing something a different way. It can actually be very exciting to set out on a new course, especially when you are on God’s course for your life! Don’t let fear keep you from stepping out in faith and seizing the purposeful, abundant life God has for you.
Putting our faith in God gives us more responsibility for our lives, what we do, where we go, ever decision we make. Whether you win or lose, succeed or fail, live a life of celebrity or anonymity, make sure that when you take your last breath, you will know without reservation that you have given everything you have, everything you are, to the life you have been entrusted with.
Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; turn your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:25-27 NASB
