Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (CSB)
- Spiritual Habits: “Spiritual habits are disciplines we put into our lives that place us in a position to hear from God and allow Him to take us deeper into life with Christ.”
- Key Truth: “The habits we form determine the people we become.”
Main Question: How do we read and study the Bible well in the contexts of our personal lives, our families, and the church?
1. Prioritize your personal engagement with God’s Word in your daily schedule. (Deuteronomy 6: 4-6)
a. Read broadly and meditate prayerfully.
b. Read expectantly and joyfully.
c. Read for transformation.
d. Read with perseverance.
e. Have realistic goals and a good plan.
2. Read the Bible with your family. (Deuteronomy 6: 7)
a. Establish a pattern of Bible reading in your family.
b. Help your family grasp the big picture of Scripture.
c. Train your family to listen to the Bible as it is taught.
3. Encounter the Bible as a part of the church.
(Deuteronomy 6: 8-9)
a. Receive the Word preached as an act of worship.
b. Participate in a small group as an act of community.
c. Encourage others in the Word as an act of ministry.
